Craving Calmer
Calming binaural beats and tones

Binaural beats have been shown to help some people calm down (for complicated brain reasons — the science is real). Sounds like something quitters could use while their natural calming system is recovering, right?

Set the kind of wave and click on the following page to set the speed and tone of the tone. There is some research behind delta waves at ~1.2 Hz, but nothing is clear in this still-nascent field, so experiment for yourself.

You can hold the mouse down to make the lights chase you, or just tap to send up little fireworks. Switch between drift and spiral if you want a different kind of motion to watch — just to give your brain something to look at while the beats run in the background. Around the edges of the screen there are little curiosities to poke at: colours, constellations, a moon phase, a few other things. Explore them, listen to bird sounds if that's more your thing, find the synthesizer that's hidden if you poke around enough.
